Review: To Live as Francis Lived: A Guide For Secular Franciscans

To Live as Francis Lived: A Guide For Secular FranciscansTo Live as Francis Lived: A Guide For Secular Franciscans by Leonard Foley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I originally selected this book because I was appointed as a spiritual assistant to my local Secular Franciscan fraternity, and knew little about their background and rationale. In reading through the book, however, I came to know not only the basics but some of the true spiritual wisdom to be found in the Secular Franciscan way.

I have to admit I read this book a little faster than is recommended: it is broken into fifty two ‘reflections’ designed to be read, pondered, prayed and considered across the course of a year, coinciding with the usual period of inquiry prior to be formally admitted to the Secular Franciscan Order via profession.

That being said, there is much to be found in this book regardless of whether you are seeking to join the Secular Franciscans, or simply wish to deepen your own spiritual life and journey. Highly recommended.
