Oh What A Tangled Web We Weave!

In light of the revelations last week following the ‘mishandled’ raids on the offices of the Australian Workers Union at the behest of the Registered Organisations Commission, this story in the latest edition of The Saturday Paper makes for interesting reading.

One cannot help but get the impression that some within the current Federal Government don’t like the efforts of GetUp! to advocate for a more progressive array of policies and, in fact, see the said organisation as ‘the enemy’ that must be attacked by any means, fair or foul.

Exclusive: Turnbull sought GetUp! help before spill

The request from Christopher Pyne was simple but unexpected. Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership was in trouble, and he was hoping GetUp! might help do numbers for him. It was the last Saturday of November in 2009 and the phone call was to Simon Sheikh, then national director of the activist group.
