Once again providing proof that he cannot be tied to the usual categories so favoured by the media and various parts of the Church, Pope Francis delivered his annual address to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See. Pope laments arms, anti-immigrant rhetoric and ‘ideological colonization’ all at once

In his most important foreign policy speech of the year, Pope Francis once again defied the usual categories of left v. right, voicing strong support for progressive causes such as nuclear disarmament, immigrant rights and battling climate change, but also stern opposition to abortion, assaults on the family and “ideological colonization.”
